HGSC Board Member Profile
Trevor Ladner (AB '20, Ed.M '21) (he/him)

What’s your background, in a couple quick sentences?
I am an educator, program director, public historian, and advocate committed to youth well-being and civic engagement through innovative, rigorous history/social science curriculum and inclusive school support. I am proud to be Gen Z, a Mississippi Gulf Coast native, and a drag performer. My guilty pleasure is watching The View every week day.
What brought you to Harvard and what did you study?
As a first-gen college applicant in rural Mississippi, I never aspired to attend an Ivy League university until a Harvard student from a town near mine came to my high school and encouraged us to apply in my junior year. I earned my A.B. in Sociology and African American Studies with an Education secondary (2020) and my master’s in Education from HGSE (2021).
Where are you now in your career?
At One Institute, the oldest active LGBTQ+ organization in the United States, I direct queer and trans history programs for youth and K-12 educators in collaboration with schools, government, and community organizations. Previously, I taught middle and high school social studies in Cambridge and DTLA.
Why did you join the HGSC Board?
I joined the HGSC board to help strengthen intergenerational connections among Harvard’s LGBTQ+ alumni, especially as our community faces hostile attacks.
What are you excited for in 2025?
I am excited to be a part of my first gay best friend’s engagement in my favorite city, New Orleans!
What’s one food you miss most from your Harvard days?
I miss the food, period. Never have to buy food or cook for myself? Salad bar and fresh grilled cheese? Yes, please, forever.
